Topic Description:

The presentation on Civility in the Workplace is structured into three key parts. It begins by defining civility in a professional context and sharing research on current workplace behaviors in the U.S. The second section discusses how civil conduct should be exhibited in various professional relationships, including among peers, subordinates, and industry competitors. Finally, the presentation highlights the negative impacts of incivility and the overall advantages of fostering a respectful and courteous work environment.

Janice Miller is the Managing Partner at Miller Haga Law Group, LLP, and a highly recognized, trusted legal advisor as an innovative general counsel. She represents the firm’s clients in business transactions, real estate, entertainment, intellectual property, licensing, and hospitality, focusing on preventive strategies to avoid litigation. A recognized speaker, Janice frequently addresses conferences on business trends, location-based entertainment, real estate, corporate governance, and emerging legal trends.

Before private practice, Janice held senior leadership roles at NBCUniversal, including Vice President of Business Affairs for Universal Studios Hollywood® and CityWalk®. She played a key role in the billion-dollar expansion of these properties, managed tenant relationships, and advised on major business deals and sponsorships. Her earlier career included significant positions at Walt Disney lmagineering®, Sega GameWorks®, and MCA Recreation Services®, where she built her expertise in entertainment, real estate, and intellectual property law.

Janice is also an expert in the business strategy of Coopertition (the notion that competitors can work together cooperatively for the benefit of their clients), and author of a published book on the matter.
