Oh No, I Just Received a Letter From an Attorney… What Do I Do Now?

In today’s legal climate, it is not an unexpected occurrence for a former employee to seek legal representation. The first step in the legal process is usually a letter notifying the employer of the legal representation and making a monetary demand. Employers should know what the best “next steps” are to undertake when they are on the receiving end of a demand letter.

The East Ventura County Employer Advisory Council (EAC) is composed of employer volunteers representing a cross-section of businesses and industries.  The EAC was developed to promote a stronger partnership between the California Employment Development Department (EDD) and the business community. Its commitment is to assist employers in conducting their business more effectively and efficiently, to provide information on employment-related issues, and to enhance the communication between EDD and the private sector.
