On January 1, 2026, California’s minimum wage for employers not operating fast food establishments will increase to $16.90 per hour, and the minimum salary for exempt employees will therefore rise to $5,857 per month (equivalent to $70,304 per year).  Fast-food workers minimum wage, as well as the minimum wage in some cities, is higher than the generally applicable minimum wage.
