Whistleblowers and Protected Disclosures in the Workplace

Topic Description:

One of the most frequent claims filed by employees these days is whistleblower retaliation. Employers need to be aware of the risks if and when an employee makes a complaint about the workplace. This program will discuss what the law is and what employers can and cannot do. Attendees will learn what makes an employee a whistleblower and how an employer’s response can impact their ability to stay lawsuit free.

The East Ventura County Employer Advisory Council (EAC) is composed of employer volunteers representing a cross-section of businesses and industries.  The EAC was developed to promote a stronger partnership between the California Employment Development Department (EDD) and the business community. Its commitment is to assist employers in conducting their business more effectively and efficiently, to provide information on employment-related issues, and to enhance the communication between EDD and the private sector.
