July 1st is coming around again, which means that in several cities and counties across Southern California, the local minimum wage will increase again. California’s state minimum wage will stay at $16.50 per hour until January 1, 2026, but if an employee works 2 or more hours in a week in one of these municipalities, the minimum wage will be higher than the state minimum for those employees.
In unincorporated areas of Los Angeles County, the minimum wage will rise to $17.81 per hour.
The City of Los Angeles is adjusting its minimum wage to $17.87 per hour, while also planning to raise wages for hotel and airport workers to $22.50 per hour, pending final approval by the City Council and Mayor.
Pasadena is increasing its rate to $18.04 per hour.
Santa Monica will match L.A. County’s $17.81 general wage while setting $22.50 per hour as the new minimum for hotel workers.
West Hollywood’s general minimum wage will remain the same until the end of the year at $19.65 per hour. However, hotel workers in the city will see their hourly rate rise to $20.22 on July 1, 2025.
