In 2016, California passed a law requiring California employers to automatically enroll their employees in a state-run retirement plan (now known as CalSavers) or offer a private retirement plan.
Although the deadlines for compliance were extended multiple times, companies with 100 or more employees were required to comply by September 30, 2020. Employers with 50 or more employees must comply by June 30, 2021 and employers with 5 or more employees by June 30, 2022.

Matt Furniss is a Senior Plan Design and Sales Consultant for FuturePlan, a national third-party administration firm for qualified retirement plans. Mr. Furniss specializes in consulting with business owners in partnership with their Financial Advisor or CPA to design the best retirement plan for their particular business. Mr. Furniss has been with the company for the past 9 years.
Mr. Furniss will discuss:

• The various retirement plans available to comply with this new law
• How these different types of retirement plans work
• How these retirement plans benefit employees and owners
• 401k/Profit sharing,
• Cash balance plans,
• 3(16) fiduciary services, and
• The state-run CalSavers program, as well as recent changes to laws and tax credits as it applies to retirement plans.
