This seminar is designed to educate business owners, human resources professionals and managers/supervisors.
Topics will include:
- Definitions of “transgender” and “nonbinary”
- Differences between sex, gender, expression, and attraction
- Using and affirming gender pronouns
- Shifting to gender inclusive language in greetings, e-mails, and more
Addison Rose Vincent (they/them) is a 29-year-old trans nonbinary educator and consultant. Born in Canada and raised in Michigan, Addison moved to California at the age of 17 to come out and live more openly as themself. Since graduating with a BA in Peace Studies from Chapman University, Addison has served several nonprofits advocating for LGBTQIA2S+ communities, including Victory Fund, Strength United, Los Angeles LGBT Center, TransLatin@ Coalition, Asian Pacific AIDS Intervention Team (APAIT), and Nonbinary & Intersex Recognition Project (NIRP). Addison currently serves as the Founder & CEO of Break The Binary LLC, a strategic consulting firm supporting businesses, schools, and organizations around the world in becoming safer spaces for LGBTQIA2S+ communities.
The East Ventura County Employer Advisory Council (EAC) is composed of employer volunteers representing a cross-section of business and industry. The EAC was developed to promote a stronger partnership between the California Employment Development Department (EDD) and the business community. Its commitment is to assist employers in conducting their business more effectively and efficiently, to provide information on employment-related issues, and to enhance the communication between EDD and the private sector.
